Sheboygan, WI
I woke up to a brisk 50 degrees for my morning run today in Sheboygan,
WI. The chilly wind was blowing in the mid to high teens, but nowhere
near the 30-40kts we had yesterday when we arrived for this year's Buddy Melges Challenge,
a women's grade 1 match race sailed in the Elliot 6m's. Despite the
chilly temperatures, the sailing for the week looks great, with a good
forecast and some great competition. There are 15 teams from eight
countries competing over the four day event, including defending
champion, Samantha Osborne from New Zealand. The racing starts tomorrow, but we do get a chance to sail this afternoon for a practice.

It was a heart breaker of a race for us in race 5 of the quaterfinals against William Tiller from New Zealand at the Knickerbocker. We lost the race by inches and were eliminated from the regatta finishing 5th overall.

We wrapped up racing in the round robin today at the Knickerbocker Cup
finishing 4th. We finished the day early and then waited for everyone
else to finish up racing before we entered into the quaterfinals
round. The quarterfinalists were not announced initially, as it was
undecided as to whether the round was going to be a 6- or 8-team
quarterfinal. By the end of the round robin, the race committee decided
that it would be an 8-team knockout quarterfinals. This meant that we
are paired up against the number 5 seed, William Tiller from New
Zealand.
