1-0 In The Semi's : 2011 Santa Maria Cup

September 30, 2011
Annapolis, MD

Racing started just after 9:30am in a nice 6kt breeze at the 2011 Santa Maria Cup. However, the 6kts was short lived as the wind died to nothing  just as the second set of flights of the day ended. It wasn't until around 3:45pm that the wind began to increase again from almost 180 degrees to what it was before. And it continued to build to a nice 12kts for the final two flights of the day. We had a good day and won our quarterfinal 3-1 over Silva (ARG) and are now 1-0 in the semi finals against Dellenbaugh (USA).

A More Challenging Day At The Boat/US Santa Maria Cup

September 29, 2011
Annapolis, MD

We feel much more alive today after racing in spite of sailing seven races in very fickle winds. The weather today was pleasant with much less humidity, a refreshing breeze and partial cloud cover keeping the temperature down a little. However, it did present tricky conditions which made for very difficult racing if you dropped behind. We had a good day again though and ended up with a 12-2 record after the two qualifying round robins. We finished on equal points with Julie Bossard (France) and team, but lost on a tie with them after dropping a race to them today. This seeded us second going into the quarterfinals, up against Martina Silva  (Argentina) and team. After the one race of the quarterfinals' series, we are up 1-0.
