IWKC - Day 2: SPLASH! Leading After Shifty Day of Racing

We started racing today after being blown out yesterday at the US Sailing Rolex International Women's Keelboat Championships .  We had a good start to the regatta, finishing the day's three races with a 3, 6, 1 to have a 2 point lead over Canada's, Jen Provan.  Third place is Dominique Provoyeur from South Africa with 14 points.

IWKC - Day 1 Blown Out

Racing was cancelled today at 8:30am due to high winds here in Rochester, NY at the US Sailing's Rolex Women's Keelboat Championships.  We woke up this morning to rain and winds, already gusting into the high 20kt with the forecast for it to get windier throughout the day.  Racing will resume tomorrow at 10am with at least three races scheduled.

IWKC - Pre-Regatta Report

Tonight is the eve of the International Women’s Keelboat Championships here in Rochester, NY.  We are sailing J/22’s and racing is scheduled to start tomorrow and continues through Saturday.   There are 36 teams competing from five countries, including USA, CAN, NED, RSA, and GBR.  On top of the international competition, there is a wide age range in the competitors, with the oldest competitor being 80 years old and the youngest being 10 years old.  I am sailing with my team of Liz Bower, Molly Vandemoer, and Debbie Capozzi.

2009 ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Nominee

Great News!  Today, ISAF announced the final list of nominees for the 2009 Rolex World Sailor of the Year, and I was on the list.  It is such an honor to be included with these other great sailors and I’m very excited about it.

Olympic Gold Medalist, #1-Ranked Woman Laser Radial Sailor And Now World Class Women's Match Racer

Representing the USA, Anna Tunnicliffe won the Gold Medal in the Women's Laser Radial dinghy at the 2008 Olympic Games in Qingdao, China. Anna has been the ISAF world's Number One-ranked women's Radial sailor since the April 9, 2008 rankings.  She was voted 2009 ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year in November 2009.  Now Anna, skipper of Team Tunnicliffe, has teamed up with Molly O'Bryan Vandemoer and Debbie Capozzi to take on the world and go for Gold in 2012 London Olympic Games in Women's Match Racing.  To get a flavor of Women's Match Racing, check out Jobson Sailing Inc
