Brad Funk and I were married in Clearwater on May 10 and it was a wonderful wedding. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and everything went without a hitch, leaving us with lasting memories of a very special day.

The ceremony was at St Cecilia’s Church in Clearwater and after signing the register to make it official we took a break for photos. After that the bridal party and their dates joined us for lunch at a restaurant on the beach. We’d done some planning ahead of time and had a very relaxed afternoon. The boys brought a change of clothes and all went off to play Frisbee and splash around in the ocean.

From there in late afternoon we headed to the Clearwater Yacht Club where Brad’s Dad was waiting with his boat to take the bridal party aboard for a slow cruise through the Intercostal Waterway, headed for Brad’s parent’s house. We got to the house just before 7:00 pm and all the guests were waiting at the top of the hill to greet us.

We danced our first dance as a married couple while everyone clapped and cheered. The speeches were just the beginning of a wonderful party. The setting was amazing – my dream wedding come true. I’d always envisioned a wedding near the water in a tropical setting complete with palm trees and this was it.

I must thank my parents and Brad’s parents for all the time they put into arranging our wedding. With all the sailing and traveling that Brad and I have been doing it would have been impossible without their generous help. They let me concentrate on sailing and just show up to help with some last minute details.

We had a few days to wind down from the big event and then five days later we left from Fort Lauderdale to fly to Medemblik, Netherlands for the Delta Lloyd Regatta.
