Practice, Registration, Football, Now To Racing PDF  | Print |  E-mail

January 22, 2012
Miami, Fl

After a great week of practice, a busy morning practicing and registering, and an afternoon filled with football games, we are ready to start racing tomorrow morning at the the first ISAF Sailing World Cup of the 2012 season, the Rolex Miami OCR Regatta.

We practiced this week with France's Team Leroy. We had three days, each presenting different types of conditions which allowed us to continue working on different parts of the game. Each day started with specific drills, and ended with tight racing between us two teams and other teams that joined in for a round robin series.

At this year's Rolex Miami OCR, there are 25 teams, which is giving us a different format than we have had in the past at World Cup events. The teams will be divided into two groups, A and B. From there, everyone will race each other in their assigned group and the top four teams in each group will move onto the quarterfinals. Group A starts off the week with racing tomorrow, while B has the day off and Tuesday we switch and enjoy the day off. Racing starts at 9am each day and there will be live Twitter feeds from the course as well as live action and results from the RMOCR website (http://rmocr.ussailing.org/ ).  Team Maclaren sit out the first two flights tomorrow morning, and then start our series in the third flight. The forecast looks promising which is good as the race committee hopes to do at least ten flights. A 10-14kt easterly will provide flat water and shifty conditions for us. We are looking forward to getting back to racing.

We would very much like to thank our Title Sponsor, Maclaren, our Gold Level Sponsors 11th Hour Racing and Laser Performance, and our Bronze Level Sponsors CarmeuseTrinity YachtsChicago Match Race Center and Sperry Top-Sider for their continued support of our campaign for the 2012 Olympic Games. We would also like to thank US Sailing Team AlphaGraphics (USSTAG) and its sponsors for their continued support. Also, thank you to our private donors. Please remember that any and all donations/contributions to our campaign should be made payable directly to either The Sailing Foundation of New York (tax deductible) memo'd Anna Tunnicliffe, or to Anna Tunnicliffe.

Sail Hard,

And as usual, don't forget, email us your questions and comments. We love getting them and sharing our love of sailing and women's match racing.
