Union Square, San Francisco
Today the America's Cup announced their collaboration with Red Bull and youth sailing. The "Red Bull Youth America's Cup" is a feeder program for young sailors aged 19-23 yrs to represent their country and compete in the AC45's currently used in the America's Cup World Series. There will be 10 national teams selected through resume, as well as a boat designated to a San Francisco Bay Youth Team. Red Bull Youth America's Cup racing will happen just prior to the America's Cup Finals next summer.

Ceremonies for the unveiling of the Red Bull Youth America's Cup happened in Venice, Italy and San Francisco, California. It was quite a feat getting the newly logo-ed AC45 into the middle of Union Square. With the wing up it proved a challenge for the shore crew to keep the boat head-to-wind, with the wind swirling down between all of the buildings unpredictably. They did an awesome job and we were all able to cheer on the crowd and take lots of photos on the boat. This is exciting news for the city of San Francisco, the America's Cup, and youth all over the world. As a young sailor, to be able to see a realistic pathway to the America's Cup, this is an opportunity waiting to be taken.
