October 20, 2012
Nice, France It was a good day for Team GAC Pindar today, the penultimate day of racing, at Act 7 of the Extreme Sailing Series. Nine races were completed with Team GAC Pindar winning three of them, moving us up to 4th place overall, only four points off the podium.

The wind was very tricky today making every race quite different and meant strategies were constantly changing. We had upwind starts today which allowed for much more even starts, with the fleet generally splitting opinions on whether to start on starboard or port. With the wind puffy and swinging through about 30 degrees at times and ranging from 7-14kts, both start tacks had their moments of being successful. The highlight race of the day for us was when, in fifth place, we picked the right hand gate, the upwind favoured gate, and managed to launch into the lead at the second windward mark and go on to win the race by a nice margin. Our other two race wins came from great starts and leading at the top mark. Overall, all the races were close and with the shifting winds, places were shuffled frequently keeping all the teams on their toes for the whole day. Tomorrow is the final day of racing. We are scheduled to start at 1:30pm and will do as many races possible before the cut off time. The forecast is for stronger breeze again making for a third day of exciting racing.
